Designed and developed a website about one of my favorite games in order to learn how to create dynamic websites. Being my first large size dynamic website written in PHP I tried to create much of it on my own as I could, with the exception of a forum system -- phpBB seemed like a prefect solution. Most of the work on the website went into creating a poll system. The idea was to create a simple way for users to create multiple polls, allowing visitors to vote on current and past polls without signing into the website.

I have learned a lot about web development, software design and new web technologies. The project has seen 3 different versions, the first version was my initial try -- using a simple design and making plenty of silly mistakes. The second version was a complete redesign of the website using Smarty -- a PHP templating system. It may have taken some time to learn how to use smarty, but after learning how to use it, I would not dream of building a website without it. After learning about the wonderful advantages of AJAX I was convinced that I should use it for my website too. This was the third and final version of the site, it had taught me a lot about AJAX, JavaScript and XML.
